Transition Years Visit Castlecomer Discovery Park!

A group of 24 transition year students from Colaiste Eaman Ris took a visit to Castlecomer Discovery Park to attempt the very impressive High Wires and Zip Line which had just been recently opened. The students first challenged themselves with the High wires which had two levels to it and plenty of obstacles to try and unnerve them. The high wires required a lot of concentration and balance and certainly took a lot of the lads out of their comfort zone.

Upon completion of the High wires the Pupils next took on the Zip Line which which boasts to be the longest in Ireland over water! The Zip Wire provided a high speed rush and a magnificent view of the surrounding area and lakes, a must do for anyone visiting the area! Most of the lads raced back up the hill trying to get a second spin!

Both the High wires and the Zip line promoted team work and encouragement amongst the group which was great to see. Some pupils had a fear of heights arriving in Castlecomer but left more confident in their ability to conquer their fears and challenge themselves.

The day ran seamlessly upon arrival with staff and instructors being very friendly and helpful. The facility’s in the Discovery Park were ideal with plenty of parking space and a shop/Cafe where pupils could get their lunch after the activities. Overall it was a very worthwhile experience for the lads who took part and would have no problem recommending it to schools or teams for a fun day out.
