Amalgamation Information
Coláiste Éamann Rís and St Brigid’s College will amalgamate to become Coláiste Abhainn Rí. This new school will open for students in September 2022.
Coláíste Abhainn Rí
As agreed by the Trustees, ERST and CEIST, and formally approved by the Department of Education and Skills on 22 June 2020, the new amalgamated school, Coláiste Abhainn Rí, will be in effect from 1st September 2022.
The amalgamated school will be operating from St. Brigid’s College, Callan, Co. Kilkenny. The Patrons and the Department of Education and Skills are working together to ensure the best use of both school properties for the newly amalgamated school.
As evidenced in our information brochure, we offer a wide range of subjects delivered by professional, dedicated & competent staff. Close cooperation with neighbouring St Brigid’s College significantly increases the number of subjects available to both schools.
In Transition Year, both schools have worked together this year to introduce a new practical subject initiative in to both student cohorts. TY’s from both schools are now getting the chance to study Home Economics, Construction Studies and Engineering together.

Both schools are currently working hard on all the associated tasks to make this a success. We look forward to the journey ahead.
