Extra Curricular

In Coláiste Éamann Rís encourages our students to be involved in as many extra-curricular activities as possible subject to available resources. The school has a long tradition of involvement in hurling, achieving many notable successes down the years. In recent time we have also enjoyed considerable success at soccer. The grounds comprising eleven acres at the rear of the school are the envy of many schools with full length pitches for both hurling and soccer.

We enter our students in school’s handball competitions and have had much success both at Leinster and Irish school levels.

Other sports in which we enter teams are Athletics, Badminton and Golf.

We have a teacher available to mentor an equestrian team if there is sufficient student interest.

Our Art Department has been involved in very successful link ups in Callan e.g. KKAT and Callan Variety Show as well as being successful in a range of projects.

We have a long tradition of competing in school quizzes and enterprise /project competitions.

This year we have guitar classes at lunchtime Monday’s.

The school has a great track record in social enterprise. As well as raising €000’s for local and Irish charities in April 2014 a group of 10 students and 3 teachers travelled to Zambia as part of the Immersion Project.
