Incoming 1st Years

Each year a number of teachers visit the various primary schools within the catchment area of Coláiste Éamann Rís. The purpose of this is to give the 6th class boys an insight into what life is like in our school. At this time the boys are also given an invitation to the upcoming open night. This usually occurs at the end of September or start of October.

At the open night the boys and their parents get a tour of the school and get to experience the various classrooms activities through demonstrations from teachers and students. There are also talks from staff, students and guests. On this night parents are given an application form to fill out and return to the school in the weeks that follow.

In December parents receive notification of the entrance exam morning that takes place on a Saturday 8th February. It is important to note that this exam morning will have no effect on the student getting a place in our school.

Once offered a place in Coláiste Éamann Rís the students are invited to a first year induction morning at the end of August. This gives the students a chance to get to know each other and it also allows them to meet their teachers individually. This morning is always very successful as it gets the boys ready for their journey with us here in Coláiste Éamann Rís.
