Leaving Cert & LCVP

Leaving Cert/Leaving Cert Vocational Programme (LCVP)

Students at the start of 5th Year are offered a choice between the Traditional Leaving Cert and an enhanced Leaving Cert called the Leaving Cert Vocational Programme. Students opting for the Traditional Leaving Cert will generally sit 7 exam subjects in addition to classes in Religion, Careers, SPHE, Computers and PE.

Core Subjects, Option Subjects, Gaeilge, Art, Agricultural Science, English, Business

Mathematics, Design and Communication Graphics, Economics, Religion, Engineering

Careers, French, Geography, SPHE, History, Physics and Chemistry, Computers, PE

Alternatively students can opt to do the Leaving Cert Vocational Programme (LCVP) This is similar to the Traditional Leaving Cert outlined above but with the addition of the Link Modules of” Enterprise“and “The World of Work”. This is effectively an eight subject for CAO purposes and had proved both successful and very useful to a substantial amount of students in recent years.

Over the last number of years we have had very positive cooperation with St Brigid’s Convent of Mercy. Girls have successfully sat Ag Sci to Leaving Cert level in our school and are currently attending Art and History classes in 5th yr while boys from our school are now attending St Brigid’s to do Accounting, Physics, Music, and Biology. These choices are not guaranteed but both schools endeavour to accommodate each other if at all possible.
